Bodhicitta is a Sanskrit word and can be translated as "mind of enlightenment". The Bodhicitta definition can be condensed and conveyed into one basic principle: the mindful practice of compassion and loving-kindness for the benefit of all sentient beings.
The practise of kindness and compassion essentially contains the cultivation of the awareness that all living beings want to feel complete and heal. safe and happy. In Buddhist terminology compassion means the complete identification with all beings and the active attendance to help them in every possible way. By selfless action mankind develops Bodhicitta.
Venerable Chamtrul Rinpoche teaches buddhism in the tibetan tradition in his adopted homeland India, a few european countries, Israel and the USA. It is an ambition of Bodhicitta e.V. to have this done in Germany in a greater size than it was possible so far, in order to provide interested people with his teachings. Since the tibetan buddhist religion and culture is endangered of being totally erased in Tibet, Bodhicitta e.V. has the goal to be conductive for its authentic survival in western culture.
It is an aim of Bodhicitta e.V. to support the tibetan population in itīs homeland, especially the nomads of the region Golok, Amdo (Eastern Tibet), who are suffering from ethnic, political and religious discrimination. Already existing projects and additional ones in planning are including health care and the possibility of school education for children, who did not have access to it before.
Bodhicitta e.V. wants to increase the awareness in western publicity for the situation of the tibetan population. The association is acting according to the buddhist ethic of non-violence and tolerance in culture, religion and community.
