Biography

Chamtrul Rinpoche Lobsang Gyatso was born as the third son of a highly respected family that originated in Golok, Eastern Tibet. He was recognized at a very young age as the reincarnation of the third Chamtrul Pema Nangsel Dorje, one of the heads of the Mardo Tashi Chöling Monastery in Eastern Tibet. Pema Nangsel Dorje was the holy incarnation of the Kathok Chamtrul Kunzig Dorje.

At the age of fourteen he entered his monastery to study under the tutorship of his first root-guru, the great yogi and Dzogchen Master Naljor Yeshe Wangchuk. For about four years he studied the preliminary practices, Heat Yoga, great perfection teachings etc. And he completed the fivefold accumulations for the three consecutive times. After that he went to the great Kathok Monastery Shedra Program of philosophycal studies and stayed there for about two years.

Then he went to the Sertha Larung Buddhist Institute, a very famous Buddhist College that could even hold about 10000 students to study there. Here Rinpoche studied for many years under the supervision of his main root-guru H.H. Khenpo Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche. Chamtrul Rinpoche obtained the title of a Khenpo (Doctor in Buddhist Philosophy) because of his great knowledge in sutric and tantric teachings. This title he received for a second time from the Kathok Monastery, honoring him with the Pandita hat of the Khenpos.

Besides this Rinpoche also studied with more than twentyfive different qualified masters and scholars from India and Tibet. He received all the cycles of teachings, empowerments and transmissions.

Chamtrul Rinpoches main aim is giving Dharma to everybody without discrimination. Just after completing all his studies he opened a Shedra with the basic Buddhist philosophical curriculum at his own Monastery. He taught the monks of  the Mardo Tashi Chöling Monastery for many years.

Since 1996 until now Rinpoche is teaching in different Buddhist Institutes in India, but basically he teaches at the ZKL Nyingma Monastery in Dharamsala. He has teached to thousands of students from more than 90 different countries.

Every year Rinpoche also travels to different countries, such as USA, Israel, France, Germany, Greece, Singapore and others to give Dharma teachings.

According to Rinpoches own words: "If ther is somebody ready to learn, I´m always here to teach."
